things to look out for on this site...
here is a feature summary of the content æon's provides.
note: the design was intended for firefox, ie6 support was crafted on the original designs, so get firefox!
æon's
- news & archive
sum up the happenings on this site.
- sites (see below)
this site is also the hub for my other projects æon's rpgs, æstats, ætats++, unreal, and nostalgia.
- maps
download my maps for quake 2, half-life, quake 3 arena, quake 3 platformer, and far cry.
- wallpapers
download one of my collages for unreal, unreal ii, halo, quake 3 arena, daikatana, heavy metal
f.a.k.k.², myst iii, heavy metal 2000, ghost in the shell, greece, brasilia, kotor, kotor ii, ...
- slides
some real-world slides of my excursions to pasadena/california, tirol/austria and nagoya/japan.
- misc
downloads not related to maps or wallpapers, like faqs or icons and the like...
- faqs
in the last few years i have written quite a few faqs (frequently asked
questions). usually collecting pertinent information on games, presenting
them in an easy to read and understand manner. these faqs are especially
intesting for rpg games, since there are simply so many things a casual
gamer might miss playing these complex games. other faqs explicitly list
all the secrets, using screenshots to make it easier to find them in the
game. even a mapping faq for quake 4 is available.
- on mapping
æon's special - on mapping: takes you through the wonderful world of mapping. the five
extensive sections with tips and comments are general enough to interest mappers of just
about any 3d shooter...
- about æon
a few words about myself... on hobbies and stuff i did over the years...
- mail
i love getting feedback, so why not send me an email :).
sites
appart from the main æon's site, i have worked on some other sites:
- æon's rpgs
this site is dedicated to supporting the games gothic 3 and two worlds
with all sorts of infos (e.g. faqs). specifically the interactive map for
gothic 3 called g3imap and another one for two worlds called
2wimap should be of much use to the casual gamer.
- æstats
way back in the winter of 1998 i started to code this game log analyzer tool
that generates html ranking and stats. by now it supports more than 20 games and
mods directly, and provides executables for win32 and linux. so if you are an admin,
have a game server running and need a site magnet... try æstats.
(2009: æstats development has seized, see æstats++!)
- æstats++
since æstats is a bit dated, i have made plans to code the next generation in
log analyzing tools. the result will be æstats++. the site already
contain lots of details and infos on things that are planned. i still have to find
the time to get it all coded.
(2009: æstats++ development is becoming less and less likely, alas!)
- unreal
way back when unreal was all the rage i started a dedicated unreal site.
it contains tons dated but still useful info. there is even a short
tutorial to get you acquainted with unrealed, unreal's out of the box
level editor. if you are looking for unreal art, you will find plenty of
it there. (2009: site is no longer active, kept for purely nostalgic
reasons!)
- nostalgia
this is a redesigned version of a site i used to run, that collected
screen shots for many games. mostly interesting stuff i had found on the
net. interesting in so far, as you can compare final release game shots
with early development shots and see how things progressed. the new site
features several nice specials, e.g. explicitly commented configuration
files.
